I think that a big part of our beef with life and what it dishes at times has to do with our expectations and interpretations of our experiences.  Unfortunately, we can't escape the way we think, it's embedded through socialisation, but I think if we allow ourselves some space for 'independent thought' (the gut feeling approach) we can begin the 'unlearning’ process that can amazingly lead to a more fulfilled life experience. 

In our life stories, we are as much victims as we are perpetrators. We hurt others as much as we are hurt.  We also lie, cheat, and do a lot of the bad stuff that we accuse people of doing to us.  Of course we are perpetrators in varying degrees. I certainly wouldn't compare myself to someone who intentionally kills or even hurt someone for malicious reasons, but the fact is, whether or not our actions are intentional or malicious, we do inflict pain too. (It’s an inherent part of our make-up …we and all ‘sinners’ and ‘have come short of the glory of God’, in other word, we can’t help ourselves)  This is where Karma comes in.  I guess our ‘bad’ life experiences are our fair share of Karma.  We take it very hard because we can’t/don’t choose to identify the role we played in the ‘big picture’.   That’s too hard to do, for self preservation is the highest order, beside, we can’t even identify what we did in the first place.

Listen, I think if we just allow ourselves to live and quit trying so hard to organise (schematize) and define life, we wouldn’t find ourselves at this questioning and anxiety-ridden place so often. For us, life is about polarities, good and bad (what are bad choices, or bad outcomes?; what is good? How do we know when good is really good? Or when bad is really bad?) Maybe we really shouldn’t define or label the experiences, just live them, to the fullest,! Maybe then we will learn and apply the lessons!
