THE gaping holes in Jamaica's play came to the fore time and again as the world number 3-ranked netballers were demolished 52-32 by England in the first game of their three-Test series at the National Indoor Sports Centre last night.

The Commonwealth Games bronze medallists heralded their intention to put on a strong fight for the title of 2007 world netball champions in Auckland, New Zealand in November as the six-foot goal-shooter Louisa Brownfield proved to be Jamaica's nemesis landing 30 goals.

England came out strong from the get-go with the sort of physical, aggressive game for which the Sunshine Girls have become renowned, though the Jamaicans took an early lead scoring three goals before their opponents got on the score-sheet.
Somewhere in the middle of the first quarter it fell slightly apart for the Jamaicans as experienced centre Nadine Bryan stole a ball, passing it to Nichala Gibson who lost it to Bryan's obvious dismay.

By the end of the first quarter, England had got their defences up with the equally tall goalkeeper Geva Mentor helping to shut out a lacklustre-looking goal-shooter Romelda Aiken and were leading 10-8.

Goal attack Simone Forbes was made to work overtime. Forbes scored 16 goals, so did Aiken.
The English were leading 24-14 by half-time and started the second half the way they ended the first with strong defensive play. It took three minutes before the Jamaicans were able to land their 15th goal.

England stretched their lead to 38-24 by the third quarter as the Jamaicans brought in new invitees Kerry-Ann Brown (wing defence), with Paula Thompson (goal defence), coming into the game in the final quarter.

The English continued to dominate and ran over the tired Jamaicans sealing the 20-point victory.
Game two will be played at the same venue tomorrow.
