Dancehall-Soul artiste Cherine Anderson last month completed her first tour with Sly and Robbie & the Taxi Gang, claiming success in her elevation from opening act to featured vocalist in the Rhythm Twins' set.

The Summer Jam Tour began on August 4 through August 21 with 15 shows along the US West Coast and four Canadian stops.

"I am happy to have had the opportunity to tour with Sly and Robbie & the Taxi Gang and look forward to reaching countless additional audiences to share with them what is Dancehall-Soul," Anderson told the Observer last week.

The Jamaican beauty is another in the long line of vocalists who have recorded for the Taxi Label. Her sweet yet authoritative voice lends a maternal comfort to Bob Marley's Redemption Song, her recently recorded State Of Mind and the gospel standard Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.

Anderson said that on the tour's first stop she was entranced by the nearly 15,000 persons in attendance at the show, titled Reggae Rising (formerly Reggae on the River).
"I loved it," said the singer known for her goose-pimple-raising vocals.

Reports from the tour said Anderson's stellar performances and captivating stage presence kept audiences amazed in Denver, Phoenix, Seattle, and other stops, including the famed Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California which attracted a sold-out audience of over 17,000 and which she described as "the highlight of the tour".
"Cherine Anderson nearly stole the show," said a Variety magazine review of the Hollywood Bowl concert held on August 12.

One patron who attended that show blogged on Giantrobot.com, "Cherine Anderson had the full package, with an amazing voice and stage presence. She came out with Redemption Song and pretty much killed it through the remainder of the set. Is she a star yet?"

Although she's ecstatic about the comments, Anderson said she intends to remain humble, as she knows she has not yet made it big.
